Privacy Policy
Polkaboo is made by Pluto.Studio. This policy explains what the Polkaboo Android app, distributed through Google Play, does with information about you, and what you can do about it.
The short version
Polkaboo needs no account. Your game stays on your phone. Three optional parts involve other services: Google Play Games (achievements, leaderboards, saved game), the community gallery (the pieces you post, your votes and your Play Games name, stored on our server), and ads you choose to watch (Google AdMob). You can delete your community data in the app at any time.
What stays on your device
- Your scores, your gallery of finished pieces, your palettes, achievements and settings
- A short technical log of the current session, which leaves the phone only if you copy it yourself
If Android backup is on, Android may include this data in your own Google backup. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Links you share and the web version
A result or challenge you share is text that you send yourself. Its link holds only the object, the palette, a score and a likeness percentage, never your name or any id. The web version at polkaboo.plutostudio.app/play/ keeps your progress in that browser's local storage. It has no account, no community, no ads and no cookies, and it sends nothing about your game to us.
Google Play Games
If you are signed in to Google Play Games, the app sends your achievements, your scores for the two leaderboards (best score, object of the day) and a saved copy of your game to your Play Games account, so that your progress follows you to a new phone. Google stores and processes this under Google's Privacy Policy. You can sign out in the Play Games app.
Community gallery
The community is optional. When you first post a piece, vote, report or hide a player, the app signs you in with Google Play Games and asks you to accept the community rules. From then on we store, on our server:
- your Play Games player ID and display name (we receive them from Google when you sign in), and a player ID of our own
- the pieces you post: the object, the palette, the positions and sizes of your dots, and the likeness we compute
- your votes, the reports you send, and the players you chose to hide
- daily counters that limit posting, voting and reporting, and the time of your last sign-in
We use this data only to run the community: to show your pieces and your name to other players, to rank pieces by votes and likeness, to stop abuse, and to act on reports. Other players see your pieces and your Play Games name; they do not see your votes or reports. We do not use it for advertising and do not sell or share it.
The server runs on Cloudflare (Workers and D1 database), which processes the data on our behalf.
Deleting it: in the app, open Settings → Delete community account. This deletes your posted pieces, the votes on them, your votes, your hidden list, the reports about you and your player record at once. Your votes stay only as an anonymous effect on other pieces' rankings. Records of moderation actions (for example that a piece was removed after reports) are kept for up to one year to handle repeat abuse. You can also ask us by email — see Delete your data.
Invite a friend
In the app, Settings → Invite a friend shares a Google Play link with your invite code (six letters, made for your community account). When someone installs Polkaboo through that link, Google Play tells the app the code once. The app then sends the code and a random install number to our server, which counts the install for you. The install number is made for this purpose only; it is not linked to the device, to the person or to any account. We store the install number, your player ID and the time; these rows are deleted with your community account. You both get a gift palette in the game.
Advertising
An ad plays only when you choose to watch one (to open a palette sooner, or for one extra life in a run). Google AdMob shows it and may use your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address and general device information, under Google's Privacy Policy. In the European Economic Area and the UK, the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form first; you can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy options.
In-app purchases
If you pre-registered for Polkaboo on Google Play, Play gives the app a free reward item that opens a gift palette. The Supporter pack is sold through Google Play Billing. Pluto.Studio never receives your payment details; Google tells the app only that you own the pack.
What we do not do
- We do not ask for your email address, phone number or real name
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
- We do not sell or rent information about you to anyone
Children
Polkaboo is not directed at children under 13, and the community is meant for players aged 13 and over. The game itself suits all ages, and every ad it shows is rated for general audiences.
If you are a parent and your child under 13 has used the community, email studio.pluto.game@gmail.com with the subject “Polkaboo parent request” and the Play Games name shown on the pieces. We delete that player's community data (player ID, Play Games name, pieces, votes and reports) and hide their scores on our leaderboards, within 30 days. You do not need to send any proof of age. Play Games accounts of children that Google Family Link manages already get child-safe ads and a private profile from Google.
Your rights
You can see your posted pieces in the app (Community → Mine) and delete everything there. You may also ask us for a copy of your community data, for a correction, or for deletion by email; we answer within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we update this page and the date at the top.
